Our Journey

Oddly enough we got our start with antique recipe books. I love to collect old recipes because they would often reflect what ingredients were readily available at the time. Want a good recipe for a casserole? Check out an old church recipe book.

One of the oldest books I collected consistently referenced suet as a main ingredient, and even had instructions on how best to render it! After a few hours of googling I felt confident enough that I could give it a try. A trip to the market later, I had fresh suet simmering in my crock pot.

I didn’t realize then the amazing benefits of what I had created - or the journey that it would set me on.

I started to render jars of tallow for my family and friends- using it in recipes and to season our cast irons and our griddle. After a few months my mother in law commented that tallow based lotion was gaining in popularity and that I should consider trying to make my own.

She helped me develop (through trial and error) what is now our Calming Calf recipe, and the rest is history.

I personally have a background in IT, and after leaving the industry to focus on my family and be a stay at home mom to my three babies, my husband and I realized just how toxic most things in our diet are, and that the foods from the store are slowly killing us and poisoning our future generations.

The purpose of Angry Cow then slowly shifted from a hobby that I enjoyed to a purpose filled endeavor that leaves me fulfilled with each story I hear from our customers.

We are a Christian based family and company and support the values and teachings found in the Bible. All of our products are lovingly prayed over before going to sale.
